"Let us leave questions of dignity to those who permanently lose it"

How does Russia live

In 90s Russia was in extreme crisis. We had a devaluation of rubble and one morning woke up and the price of dollar was 15 instead of 5 rubbles. Now 1 $=32 Rub.

And not in 2010-2011 russia faces a demographic crisis. Women of USSR collapse times were to worried of future to allow more than 1 kid. Also increased drug traffic in 90s killed significant amount of young and strong men.

Russia authorities launched a governmental campaign to increase birth rate.
For every 2nd child, family gets money 350 000 rubles (10 000 dollars). However those money couldn't be turned into cash directly. They could be used for real estate, mom's education, child's education and some other purposes.
Just for you to understand. Average price of (not new) 1bedroom flat in Moscow is around 4 M rubbles= 125 000 $. Average salary is 15 000 Rub or 500$. Interest rate for mortgage is above 10%, usually 12-17%.
In Russia it is very common that people get married and still live with parents. They get kids and still live with parents. Because it is simply impossible financially to rent a flat or even buy one.
Typical situation. No extremities, really basic.

woman 21- year old. man 24- year old.
Both have higher education usually related to economics.
They get married. Move to live with man's parents to 2-bedroom flat. As soon as they did that, they actively start making babies (because two adults is not a family and family is the most importnat thing and etc)
Finally they get the baby. Woman stays at home for next 3 (!!!) years (pregnancy leave in Russia is exactly 3 years) and gets 70% of salary. 0,7x500=350$ and the husband works. What kind of perspectives do they have? Can they buy a flat? No. Can they improve their qualification? Man is working and earning money, woman will have no working experience and stay out of life for 3 years..
And finally they see a solution to get the 2nd baby and to use money for , let us say, for real estate.

Generally speaking, by 24 years , woman has 2 kids , no real job lives with parents-in-law.
They get money for the kid. But what to do then?

No kindergartens , or the line to get there is impossible to imagine. One woman told a story: when her daughter was born, in the very first week they applied for a kindergarten and according to line, the closest time her daughter could go there was at the age of 8 (!!!) years.

No schools. In Russian schools parents pay for window painting, gifts for teachers and directors, changing floors, basic equipment like TV-sets or even desks.
Moreover, new educational program includes only 4 compulsory subjects: Physical culture, Russia in the world, lessons of Patriotisme and basics for fors-major. Total brainwashing. the rest is paid. Not extremely expensive but still the matter of fact.

No Universities. Our president decided that Russia has too many lawyers and economists. That is why it was decided to close majority of programs for those professions, limit numer of Universities, limit their sits and open more professional colleges. College in Russia is not the same a college in the USA. In Russia it is just a loser stuff to get at least some kind of profession.  You can become carpenter, electrician , sew, and etc. But you can't become a lawyer, engineer, doctor or economist. What for? To have people with less education and with less spirit of dignity. Welcome back to the USSR.

Why do I write all that? Because I love my country and hate government. Because I want to change something and can't, because I have very high chances to end up in jail like S. Magnitsky or in London like majority of speakers. So let me stay incognito.

To be continued.
